How to Import from Matter & Goodreads to Integrate
Coming from Matter or Goodreads? Your reading history doesn’t have to stay behind.
Integrate imports from both. Your highlights, books, and reading data come with you into one unified library.
Importing from Matter
Recurring sync (the easier way). Connect your Matter account in Integrate’s settings. Authorize access. Your saved articles and highlights start syncing automatically, at least every 24 hours. New things you save in Matter flow to Integrate without you doing anything.
What comes over: saved articles with full content, highlights you made within articles, and article metadata (title, author, URL). Each highlight becomes a snippet, linked to its source. From there it gets topic tags, enters daily sessions, and can be auto-added to notebooks.
Importing from Goodreads
CSV export. Goodreads doesn’t have an API connection, but the export works fine.
- Go to Goodreads.com, then My Books
- Click “Import and Export” in the sidebar
- Click “Export Library” to download the CSV
- In Integrate, go to Import, select Goodreads, upload the file
What comes over: your reading history (read, currently reading, want to read), book metadata (title, author, rating, date read), and any reviews you wrote.
One thing to know: Goodreads doesn’t export inline highlights or notes from ebooks. Those live on your ebook platform (Kindle, Apple Books), not on Goodreads.
What changes after import
Books show up in your library with metadata and ratings. Highlights from Matter enter the spaced repetition cycle. AI suggests topics for imported content. Recommendations improve because Integrate now knows more about what you read.
The more data Integrate has about your interests, the better your daily sessions and auto-organized notebooks become.
Why consolidate
Most readers use multiple tools. Kindle for ebooks, Matter for articles, Goodreads for tracking, Spotify for podcasts. The problem isn’t any individual tool. It’s that your knowledge is scattered across all of them.
Integrate puts everything in one library. A Kindle highlight sits next to a Matter article insight, next to a podcast snippet. Organized by topic. Reviewed through spaced repetition.
That’s what integration actually means.
Common questions
Can I keep using Matter after importing?
Yes. Recurring sync keeps flowing. Use both at the same time.
Will my Goodreads account be affected?
No. CSV export is a copy. Goodreads stays untouched.
What about duplicates?
Integrate detects them and skips content that already exists.
Can I import from other platforms?
Yes. Readwise (CSV and recurring sync), Matter (recurring sync), Goodreads (CSV), and a generic Integrate CSV format for custom imports.
